Approximately 50 cars have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Cars, exterior walls and postboxes were defaced, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.
Law enforcement report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a individual noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored fluid.
The substance had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Law enforcement then found multiple other marked cars and house walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials say initial examinations indicate the substance was probably human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no clue as to its origin; authorities are currently not informed of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they commented.
City officials said they were trying "to resolve the case" and have requested to the community for tips.
A senior political figure stated the attack rendered him stunned and required to be resolved quickly.
"This incident affects the very heart of Hanau and revives the pain of the far-right violent incident half a decade ago," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a shooter focusing on people of immigrant origin in five years prior.
